Robert and Stephanie Oursler

Stephanie Jo Meilleur of Newton and Robert F. Oursler of Peabody were married at 7 p.m. July 7, 2002, at Harvey County West Lake. James Pohlman officiated at the double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Lori and Marvin Sidebottom of Newton and Steven O. Meilleur of Colombia, South America. She is the granddaughter of Don and Rae Ann Anderson of Newton. The bridegroom is the son of Frank and Sharon Oursler of Peabody.

The bride rode a horse to where the guests were seated, then her father and grandfather helped her down and escorted her down the aisle. Her white satin dress featured a re-embroidered floral design on the bodice, skirt, and train and her headpiece was a halo of baby's breath. She wore white tennis shoes with fancy lace laces and carried a bouquet of blue and white carnations and white daisies.

Angela Snow of Newton attended her cousin as matron of honor. Amanda Sanchez of Newton was bridesmaid.

The bride's cousin Niqole Rae Snow of Newton was flower girl. Ring bearer was Devon Brant of Peabody, nephew of the groom.

Paul Britton of Derby served his brother-in-law as best man. Groomsman was Michael Hedrick of Peabody.

Guests were seated by Joshua and Donald Stewart of Newton, brothers of the bride.

The couple was married at home plate on a baseball diamond. A flag, given by Gov. Joan Finney to the bride when she was in grade school, hung in back of the wedding party. The flag had flown over the Capitol building for one day before being sent to Stephanie.

Kristen Brant of Peabody was the guest book attendant. She is a niece of the groom.

The groom's parents and the bride's grandparents were hosts at the reception which was held in the shelter house of the park following the ceremony. Cake and punch servers were the bride's aunt Loretta Ness, Newton, and the groom's sisters, Teresa McGonigal, Peabody, and Tammy Britton, Newton.

The couple lit a unity candle at the reception. They also lit a candle in memory of the bride's uncle, Larry Ness, who died in December.

The bride is a 2002 graduate of Newton High School. She was employed at the Newton Dairy Queen and Great Plains Pet Hospital prior to moving to Manhattan and enrolling as a freshman at Kansas State University, studying pre-veterinary medicine.

The groom is a 2001 graduate of Peabody-Burns High School. He is employed at Richie Paving in Manhattan.

The couple took a wedding trip to Kansas City, St. Louis, Chicago, and Indianapolis. They now reside at 2051 Kerr Drive, No. 12, Manhattan.

Rehearsal Dinner

The groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner which was held July 6 at the shelter house at Harvey County West Lake.
