Reunion held by PHS class of 1953 years ago

The rural Peabody home of Bob and Arlene Moffett was the site of the 50th anniversary reunion for 11of the original 24 members of the class of 1953, their spouses, and guests.

The one and one-half inch of rain that fell in the morning made navigating the county roads a memorable experience for the city folks.

The afternoon was spent getting re-acquainted, taking pictures, snacking, and reminiscing.

Those attending were: Melvin and Charlene Burdorf, Fort Worth, Texas; Barbara (Craig) Hodges, Topeka; Richard and Maxine Davis, Hamilton, Texas; Richard DeForest and Paul and Sally (DeForest) Attwater, Wichita; Edna Faye (Fisher) Helmuth, Loveland, Colo.; Monte and Carolyn Fisher, Whitewater; Shirley (Koslowsky) Bartel and Dean Robinson, Albuquerque, N.M.; Bob and Arlene Moffett, Peabody; Ray and Carol (Mott) Peirce, Hesston; Barbara (Vantuyl) Atkins, Kansas City; and Shirley Strotkamp, Peabody.

Letters were received from Winona (Reed) Wilhm, Stillwater, Okla.; Shirley (Temple) Slaymaker, Emporia; Judy (Baker) Fife, Spokane, Wash.; Carmita (Buell) Yust, Belton, Mo.; and Darrell Jordan, Lawai, Hawaii.

Three class members, Avis (Graham) Burke, Pat Hodges, and Jerry Watts are deceased.

Following an evening meal in the Moffett home, most of the group joined the Peabody Alumni gathering in Peabody.

The annual alumni event, hosted by Pat (Thatch) Hunnel and Juanita (Thatch) Watson, was held at the home of Jack and Kerrie Kirkpatrick.

On Memorial Day, eight of the classmates, along with spouses and friends, enjoyed dinner together at the Brown Building. Tony and Jessie (Goering) Epp of Goessel also attended on Monday.
