Ressler receives distinguished award for NACSW service

Dr. Lawrence Ressler, vice president of academics and student development at Tabor College, Hillsboro, received the Award for Distinguished Service from the North American Association of Christians in Social Work (NACSW) Oct. 29.

Ressler has been actively involved in NACSW for more than 15 years, serving as president to the NACSW board of directors for seven years.

"He has contributed significantly to the social work profession and the Christian social work community through extensive scholarship, especially in the integration of social work and Christianity," said Rick Chamiec-Case, NACSW executive director.

During his tenure with NACSW, Ressler contributed significantly to the social work profession and the Christian social work community through enhancing NACSW's relationships with other Christian organizations. Ressler regularly has represented NACSW as a presenter at conventions and training conferences as well as acting as a liaison to other professional associations. He also has emphasized the significance of spirituality in social work through networking with the National Association of Social Workers, the Council on Social Work Education, and the Society for the Study of Spirituality and Social Work.

NACSW equips its members to integrate Christian faith and professional social work practice. It is an interdenominational and international organization that provides a faithful Christian voice and presence within the larger social work profession.
