Residents need to be aware of changes for fall cleanup

New regulations will govern how much trash is picked up by city crews and Stutzman Refuse in the citywide cleanup this fall.

Fall cleanup will be Sept. 26 through Oct. 1 with curb-side pick-up Sept. 30. Instead of piling everything in a heap at the curb, items to be picked up must be bagged, boxed, or bundled.

Metal items must be separated from other refuse and no construction or demolition material will be picked up.

"They will not be picking up loose material any longer," said city treasurer Stephanie Ax.

Ax is in charge of coordinating the semi-annual cleanup weekends with Stutzman Refuse.

"We included a notification to everyone in the August water bill. A more detailed list of regulations will go out with the September billing," she added.

Another change will be the schedule for the roll-off Dumpster at First and Olive streets. Instead of being available on two consecutive Saturdays, the Dumpster will be parked at First and Olive streets from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 26-30 and only one Saturday morning (9 a.m. to noon Oct. 1).

"Hopefully we are letting people know far enough in advance that they can plan for the changes," said Ax.

"Just tell people to watch for more information in the next city newsletter that accompanies their water bills."

Additional information also will be available in the Peabody Gazette-Bulletin or property ownes may contact city staff at 983-2174.
