Reception honors retiring Florence postmaster
Bonnie Vinduska of the Marion County Lake was honored Friday morning with a reception at the Florence Post Office in honor of her retirement as postmaster.
The event was hosted by Jeannie Meirowsky and Janette Parmley. Refreshments of cookies and tea were served from 9 a.m. to noon to the many friends in attendance and Bonnie was showered with cards, gifts, and plants.
In the afternoon, Bonnie was surprised again with a reception by the postal workers. A "U.S. Postal Service" cake was served to more friends and well wishers. Also in attendance were her husband Ken and other family members.
Parmley reports that it was an emotional day for Bonnie as she has served in the postal service for 30 years, the last 9 1/2 in Florence. She further states that the community will miss her smiling face and wishes her the best in her retirement.
As yet, no permanent postmaster has been appointed to fill the position.
