Ralph W. Hicks

Ralph W. Hicks, 76, of Peabody, died Jan. 1, 2006, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice-St. Francis, Wichita.

Born May 4, 1929, at Sedgwick, he was the son of Clarence and Lucy (Aye) Hicks.

On Aug. 26, 1951, he married Haroldine Blomenkamp at Herington.

He was employed as a reserve police officer at Salina for 10 years while holding various other jobs. Later he worked at Kinder Manufacturing in Newton, then as a farm equipment machinist for Hesston Corporation, where he was employed for 17 years before his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Haroldine of Peabody; son, Earl Hicks of Marion; two daughters, Sherri Bowlby of Wichita and Pam Rickard of Peabody; sister, Cara Lou Davis of White Deer, Texas; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peabody-Burns High School Gymnasium.

Burial with full military honors will follow in Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.

Memorial funds have been established with the Peabody Christmas light fund or St. Paul Lutheran Church, Peabody.
