Quilt show scheduled for Peabody this weekend

By Joanna Brazil

The Victorian Revival Society cordially invites you to view a display of privately owned quilts Friday and Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church. The quilt show, "Kaleidoscope," is a show of quilts belonging to local residents. Many of these quilts have not been seen publicly for many years.

A feature of the show is a lovely Crazy Quilt that belonged to Marian Kurtze and has been passed down to her grandson and his wife, Shreves and Mary Avery. The quilt was part of a quilt show approximately 25-30 years ago, and has not been shown publicly since that time.

We also are privileged to have many quilts from the collection of Marilyn Payne, who is a longtime quilt enthusiast and collector. The history of these quilts is well documented and several of them are for sale.

Programs detailing information about the quilts will be distributed at the show. "Kaleidoscope" will be open from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Cost to view the quilts is a $5 donation. Proceeds from the show benefit Senior Center Façade Renovation, a design project by Peabody Main Street Association. The quilt show is part of a series of events and activities in the "Peabody Community Quilt Project," a community service project by the Victorian Revival Society. A quilt auction is being planned for autumn.
