Prizes for reading still available at Peabody Library
Activities and events for the "Paws, Claws, Scales, and Tales" summer reading program have reached their tail end, but children may still come to the library to receive prizes for reading until the end of July.
To receive prizes children should provide a list of books they have read. For each five books on the list, the student may choose from prizes out of a kitty litter box. There are bendable cats and dogs, mini bean bag animals, cat and dog stamps, dog paw bracelets, snake pens, and more.
Children who read 20 books may also choose a book to add to the Children's Library Collection. The library will purchase the book and list the child as contributor.
Patrons young and old are invited to pick up a dog or cat bookmark and get a copy of "The Pet Scoop," an edition of a newspaper full of silly pet articles and puzzles.
Also, the new release of Disney's "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" on DVD is available for checkout as are some other new titles.
The library is open weekdays from 2 to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. In addition, there are extended summer hours every Tuesday until 7 p.m.
