Priest presents railroad program at Chat and Dine
Fifty members and guests of Chat and Dine heard an illustrated program by Stephen Priest Saturday detailing the intricate design of a model Santa Fe Railroad in eastern Kansas in the 1970s.
Priest is an author, publisher, and model railroad designer who accesses the historic records and massive accumulation of photos of the Santa Fe in designing locomotives, railcars, and the infrastructure for his display as well as commercial requests.
His presentation validated the authenticity of model railroad development today as more than a hobby.
Guests at the dinner and program included Harriet and Lawrence Foose of Cedar Point, guests of their daughter, Sharon Williams; Bettie Batt, Mike and Joyce Eurit, Alexander, Sara, and Colin, and Joel Priest, guests of Judy and Bob Priest; and Marilyn and Gary Jones of Peabody, guests of Neysa Eberhard. Others attending the program were Connie and Donald Isaacs of Hillsboro and Jim Melton.
First-time attendees were lake residents Ken and Deborah Schwartz. Those recognized for having birthdays in July or August were Helen Beckham, Don Fruechting, Karen Townsley, Peggi Wilson, Jim Wilson, and guests Mike and Colin Eurit. Annivesary acknowledgements for July and August were made for Peggi and Jim Wilson, 31 years; Bettie Batt, 60 years; Mike and Joyce Eurit, 16 years; and Cinthia and Stephen Priest, 16 years.
