Power lifters place in state 2A competition
Staff writer
Peabody-Burns power lifters made a good showing at the 2A State Championships held recently in Solomon. Twenty-three lifters, including six girls and 17 boys, participated in the event. The girls placed second overall, earning a 2A State Runner-up plaque. The boys placed fourth out of the 26 schools in the competition.
Casey Berger earned a state title in the 123-pound class. Tommy Phillips earned a title in the 198-pound class, and Adam Jones earned a title in the Power Weight class.
"I was thrilled for the girls," stated Coach Chris Young. "They did a great job. I was disappointed in the boys' finish. We had a couple of dis-qualifications that hurt us. Overall we had a great meet and great support."
