Pool opening on hold in Peabody
Peabody municipal swimming pool will not open on Memorial Day as scheduled according to Peabody city administrator Jeff Benbrook.
"The company we hired to repair the leaking seams in the concrete won't be able to have the job done by Memorial Day as hoped," said Benbrook.
C.L. Germain Co. of Canon City, Colo., was hired by the city to make repairs after the pool was filled two weeks ago and the leaks were discovered.
"It will take about another week before the pool can open," Benbrook said.
The target date now is June 3, the Saturday after Memorial Day. Sarahanne Unruh, pool manager, said registration for swimming lessons also will be postponed until June 3.
