Police: Week begins with break-in
Peabody Police Sergeant Bruce Burke reported a forced entry at the front door Don's Drug occurred sometime between Sunday and about 8 a.m. Monday. The store is located at 126 Walnut. An investigation is ongoing at this time. There is no information available on what might have been taken and there are no suspects.
Peabody police have finished the investigation of the theft of checks in a case that was opened in August of this year. Charges were filed with the city prosecutor this past week.
Police took a report Nov. 23 of vandalism to a native limestone hitching post at the residence at 611 N. Sycamore. The hitching post has antique and historic value. A monetary value has not yet been determined. No suspects have been named in the vandalism.
A lost property report was filed with Peabody police Dec. 1 when a resident reported an antique finger labyrinth missing. The item was valued at $125. It was determined to be a civil matter, not criminal. No charges were filed.
It was reported that at 4:45 p.m. on Dec. 1 residents of a building at 112 W. 5th being used as a dwelling, contacted law enforcement officers when they found the rear door of the building had been forced open during the day.
Two dogs belonging to the residents had been let loose and were at large in the community. Nothing appeared to have been taken. The dogs were caught and returned.
There are no suspects in this case.
Officers arrested Jeff Madsen at 1 a.m. Sunday at 706 N. Elm for disorderly conduct and battery on a law enforcement officer. He also was charged on an outstanding warrant from Shawnee County.
