Police locate meth lab in Florence

Marion County Sheriff's Department provided the following information concerning a meth lab at Florence.

At 4:24 p.m. Oct. 31, Undersheriff Randal Brazil stopped a gold Chevrolet Lumina at 8th and U.S.-50 in Florence. Ronald Lee Shipman was a passenger in the vehicle. He was arrested on a Marion County warrant for manufacture of a controlled substance, and was transported to the Marion County Jail.

During the traffic stop, Undersheriff Brazil located methamphetamines and items used in the manufacture of meth inside the vehicle.

Regina Shipman was driving the vehicle. She also was arrested and taken to the county jail.

From the traffic stop, a search warrant was obtained for the Shipman residence located at 101 W. 4th Street in Florence.

At 9 p.m., law enforcement officers from Marion County Sheriff's Office, Florence Police Department, Peabody Police Department, and Goessel Police Department served the search warrant at the Shipman residence.

Methamphetamines, drug paraphernalia, and a meth lab were located inside the residence. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) was called to the scene to dispose of the meth lab.

The Shipman residence was condemned by KDHE until the home can be properly decontaminated.
