Plans made for Spring Fling

The annual Florence Spring Fling was the topic of discussion during the Florence Labor Day committee meeting Saturday morning at the ambulance building.

Those attending were Ed Robinson, Alice Hayes, Gary Nesser, Trayce Warner, and officers Sue Klassen, chairman; Scott Zogelman, vice-chairman; and Mary Jane Grimmett, secretary.

The annual Spring Fling will be the first Sunday in April. Free will offerings and proceeds from the event are used to help fund the three-day Labor Day celebration in September.

Everyone attending Spring Fling will have the opportunity to vote in the 2004 Labor Day button contest. The winner will be announced that day and will receive $50 in prize money. Deadline for button entries is April 2 and may be given to Sue Klassen or left at city hall.

Since this is the 67th annual Labor Day celebration, $67 will be given away on Labor Day. Sign-up forms will be available prior to Spring Fling. Sue Klassen will be in charge of the "Isn't Life Just Ducky?" duck contest, featuring plastic ducks floating down the Cottonwood River.

Entertainment will start at 3 p.m. A meal will be served consisting of brats, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, and desserts. The meal is available by free will donation. Proceeds will be used to help fund the Labor Day celebration.

Members also made plans for a first annual "Tour De Florence" bicycle ride to be held in May. Watch local newspapers for more information.
