Planning commission call special meeting
A special meeting has been called by Marion County Planning Commission Chairman Eileen Sieger.
Marion County Zoning Administrator Bobbi Strait reported the meeting plans Monday to Marion County Commission.
The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 at a place to be announced.
Strait reported at last week's commission meeting that there was a conflict in the zoning regulations and lot split permits that still required a 40-acre parcel. Strait said she was told by Sieger that the 40-acre language was left in the documents "on purpose."
Consultant David Yearout also will be in attendance, said Strait.
In other department business:
- Strait reported she was going to meet with road and bridge personnel regarding salvage operations on a county right-of-way.
The two operations are less than a mile apart. The state also has been contacted and will conduct an investigation.
Discussion was heard regarding 10 or fewer untagged vehicles that are not within the state's jurisdiction for salvage operations. Strait said a county regulation needed to be drawn to address that issue and could be added to the county's nuisance regulation.
Weed issues, dogs in homes, dumping trash on roadways, and other nuisance issues could be addressed, said Strait.
Any changes would require two public hearings, said Strait — one from the planning commission and one from the county commission.
- Minutes of the July 27 planning commission meeting were distributed with no action taken.
- Strait requested and received an eight-minute executive session to discuss personnel. The meeting reconvened with no action.
