PHS Class of 1957 celebrates in Missouri years ago
Nine members of the Peabody High School Class of 1957 met Sept. 27 at the home of Wesley Bentz in St. Louis, Mo., to celebrate the 45th anniversary of their graduation.
Several letters were read from members who were unable to attend and the group planned activities for the following day.
The host provided maps and directions so everyone was able to see sights of their choice.
The group met in the reception room of the motel Saturday evening for pizza and more reminiscing.
At 1 p.m. Sunday, they went to the historic Lemp Mansion for a family-style luncheon. The Lemp mansion is the 1880s home of the Lemp Brewery family and supposedly is haunted by a member of the Lemp family.
After the luncheon, the group returned to the Bentz home for final goodbyes and to plan the next reunion, which will be in 2004. It will be hosted by Mick and Noreen Weems at their cabin in Colorado. It also was decided that the 50th anniversary, in 2007, should be held in Peabody.
Those attending were Galen and Mary Lou Graham, Belton, Mo.; Delores (Buell) and husband Mike Hordeski, Atascadero, Calif.; Barbara (Palmer) and husband Gerald Jesseph, Buffalo; Juanita (Thach) Watson and Pat (Thach) Hunnell, Bandon, Ore.; Loren and Rosemary Hodel, Stanwood, Mich.; Melvin and Noreen Weems, Jack and Kerrie Kirkpatrick, and Carmen (Fisher) and husband James South, all of Peabody; and the hosts, Wesley and Shirley Bentz of St. Louis.
