PHS class of 1954 holds 50-year reunion years ago
Peabody High School graduating class of 1954 met May 30 for their 50-year reunion.
The afternoon was spent visiting, followed by a meal catered by Sharon's Korner Kitchen.
The group welcomed former PHS home ec teacher, Kay Kerwitz Dyck and husband Richard of Conroe, Texas.
Deceased class members — Carol Baker Foote, Keith Brewer, Edward Claassen, Sterling Frame, and Earl Knust — were remembered with a moment of silence. Greetings were sent from Geraldine Reiswig Schuster of Sour Lake, Texas, Charles Lile of Hubert, Okla., and from former band teacher, Bob Ensign of Concordia.
Attending from out-of-state were Pattie Baker Tempel and husband, Lou, Elko, Nev.; Arlo Buller and wife, Ann, Dallas, Texas; Harry Goering and wife, Rosie, Menifee, Calif.
Garry Hanneman, Edmond, Okla.; Don Harrison, Taft, Calif.; Anita Hess Stevens, Anaheim, Calif.; Riley Kirkpatrick, Waco, Texas.
George Rood and wife, Paula, Omaha, Neb.; Edgar Smith and son, Zach, Kansas City, Mo.
Michael Stovall, Springfield, Mo; and Nelda Windsor Skeele, St. Peters, Mo. Additional guest was Anita Steven's sister, Marta, Branson, Mo.
Attending from Kansas were Larry Decker and wife, Wanda, Clearwater; Ron Slaymaker, Emporia; Elmer Hedrick and wife, Elaine, Shawnee Mission; Carol Regier Fiedler and husband, Durwood, Newton.
Also attending was former classmate, LaVern Fiedler and wife, Sally, Kingman.
Attending from Peabody were Patricia Lackey Knust Henderson, Ed Slocombe and wife, Ann, and Warren and Donna Matz Windsor, all of Peabody.
The group met for pictures by LaVern Fiedler's 1951 Chevy. All class members were asked to autograph a sign he designed for the PHS class of 1954.
