Peggy Clark
Peggy A. Clark, who held a number of positions in both the public and private sector in Washington, D.C., over the past 30 years, died at her home in Georgetown on May 14, 2004, at the age of 57, from ovarian cancer.
She was born in Emporia and attended elementary school in Peabody while her father was superintendent of schools for Peabody-Burns USD 398.
She received a bachelor's degree in communications from Kansas State University in 1968. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. In 1973, she received a master's degree in fine arts from the University of Kansas.
Her public service included employment by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the Small Business Administration, and as a Special Assistant to President Clinton in the White House Office of Presidential Personnel from 1993-98.
She also owned her own business, Clark Publishing, which published "Capital Computer Digest" from 1984-1993. Most recently, she was employed by Sallie Mae as director of government and industry relations from 1998 until her death.
Clark served on the board of the American Council of Young Political Leaders. In the latter capacity she led a delegation of U.S. young political leaders to Australia in 2001, and hosted several foreign delegations of young political leaders visiting the U.S. at her home.
Clark is survived by her husband, Bruce Finzen; her parents, Harold and Margaret Clark of New Braunfels, Texas; her brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Laurie Clark of Austin, Texas; and nieces and nephew.
