Peabody walk will spotlight 130 years of music years ago
Peabody Historical Society's annual fall "walk" in downtown Peabody will feature many sounds of music that could have been heard during the past 130 years.
The "Sound of Music" will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 25 along Walnut Street, Peabody's main street.
Dr. Ruth Sherman Bennett and her husband, Mark Bennett, will present "Mr. Peabody's Coal Train" as well as other tunes. Thirteen acts are planned, ranging from gospel music to grand opera at the Opera House.
Each week, performers will be spotlighted in the Peabody Gazette-Bulletin until the show allowing readers to learn more about the musicians as well as helping the historical society.
Tickets will be available at the Carnegie Library basement. Small groups will be led by guides every 15 minutes. Soup and pie will be for sale at the Morgan House before and during the tours. All proceeds go to the historical society's maintenance and projects.
