Peabody Veterans Day program to feature Becky Ediger
Peabody American Legion Auxiliary will host its second annual Veterans Day celebration at noon Nov. 10 at the American Legion hall. Chili and dessert will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Local singer Carol Grosse will entertain from noon to 1 p.m.
The featured speaker for event will be former U.S. Secret Service agent Becky Ediger. Ediger graduated from Peabody High School in 1970. She spent 22 years in the USSS, serving the government in various capacities including White House security. Ediger's career put her in close contact with all branches of the military and veterans from many conflicts. She will speak at 1 p.m. following opening ceremonies.
Cost of the meal is by donation with proceeds to benefit the children of Pfc. Donald Reas Axtell III who is recovering at Walter Reed Army Hospital from injuries he received in Iraq. Axtell is a former Peabody resident.
