Peabody Senior Citizens start annual baking project

The September meeting of Peabody Senior Citizen's board was held Monday. After the minutes were read and treasurer's report given, the meeting was open for reports.

Peppernut making must be organized to start in October. Men are needed to operate the "dough guns."

The table arrangement was delivered to Hillsboro for the annual county meeting. It will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 12, followed by a noon meal. Tickets are $4.

The board accepted money donated for new kitchen counters at the sink.

Nancy Pihl, county extension agent, will speak at the Sept. 21 birthday luncheon.

Peabody center hosts the Marion County monthly meeting on Nov. 17.

The nominating committee submitted the following slate of officers for 2007: Pat Knust Henderson, president; Ruth Demain and Joan Berns, co-vice presidents; Sally Matz, secretary; Lucy Janzen, treasurer; Bill Laramore, bus maintenance; and Arlene Williams, contact.

The covered dish luncheon was Sept. 19 with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Manka and Sadie Decker as the serving committee.

USD 398 Superintendent Tom Alstrom spoke to the senior citizens about PBHS plans and answered questions related to school issues.
