Peabody Senior Center begins annual baking project

Peabody Senior Center board met Oct. 19 at the senior center. Recently elected president Pat Henderson opened the meeting with prayer. Other new officers are Sally Matz, secretary; Arlene Unruh, treasurer; Sadie Decker and Joan Berns, vice presidents; and Arlene Williams, coordinator.

Following the treasurer's and secretary's reports, it was voted to accept the proposed renovation plan for the building from Peabody Main Street.

October birthdays will be celebrated Oct. 28 with Jean Newfield giving the program.

The seniors started making peppernuts Oct. 11. They will be baking every Monday and Wednesday afternoon from now until late November. Peabody-Burns High School students Derrick Simmonds, Andrew Topham, and Kate Topham helped Oct. 18 with baking at the center. The money raised is used to operate the center.

Virginia Skinner presented the program Oct. 19 for the covered dish meal.
