Peabody scout leader honored

Linda Fisher, Peabody Girl Scout leader, recently was honored by the Flint Hills Girl Scout Council when she received the prestigious Meierhoff Award at the annual dinner meeting of the council.

The award is presented to Girl Scout leaders who have given exceptional service to the council neighborhood. In the presentation, Eileen Sieger, vice president of the board of directors, noted that Fisher is a real asset to the Peabody community.

A leader for Daisies, Juniors, and Cadette-Seniors (some times leading two troops at one time), Fisher has been involved in Girl Scouting for 12 years. She was a scout for two years and a troop leader for 10. In addition, she has served five years as a day camp director for a multi-neighborhood day camp. This past summer, she accompanied a group of scouts to an international camp in West Sussex, England.

Fisher also has received the Bread and Butter Award from the council and has been recognized locally with the Leader Pin, Outstanding Leader Award, and the Appreciation Pin.

Also recognized at the annual meeting was Peabody Junior Girl Scout Erica Frederick. She was top cookie seller in the Peabody neighborhood and second top cookie seller in council. She sold 660 boxes of cookies.
