Peabody schools to observe Music in Our Schools Month
Peabody-Burns High School currently is celebrating "Music In Our Schools Month" otherwise known as MIOSM.
This March is the 13th annual celebration of the event, sponsored by the Music Educators National Conference.
This year's theme is "Connect with Music!" Several events have been scheduled in Peabody schools.
Peabody Junior High School musicians will travel to Little River Tuesday to attend the Heart of America League Music Festival. The PBJH concert band will perform as will many students presenting solos and in ensemble groups. Times will be announced later.
The instrumental music departments will present a "Music in Our Schools Month" concert at 7 p.m. March 11 in the Brown Building concert hall. The concert will feature the PBJH concert band, PBHS concert band, and PBHS stage band.
PBHS Voices will present their annual dinner theater at 6 p.m. March 13 at Peabody Elementary School.
Peabody Junior High vocal students will present a solo and ensemble recital from the HOAL Music Festival at 7 p.m. March 16 in the Brown Building commons area.
The Peabody Elementary School fifth and sixth grade bands will present a short "Music In Our Schools Month" concert at 2 p.m. March 17 in the PES gymnasium.
To conclude the month, the USD 398 faculty-staff recital will be at 7 p.m. March 18 at Peabody United Methodist Church. This year's recital will feature faculty, staff, parent volunteers, board of education members, and district substitutes.
Plan to support student musicians by attending some or all the events for MIOSM in Peabody schools.
