Peabody police make arrest for drug possession
The Peabody Police Department executed a Marion County search warrant for drugs Saturday at 814 Peabody Street, Lot G, in Peabody. They were assisted by officers from the Marion County Sheriff's office.
One individual was arrested for possession of cocaine. Carrie Anne Watts was arrested and booked into the Marion County jail. Pohlman said charges are being filed with the county attorney.
More reports of criminal damage to property have been filed with the Peabody Police Department.
A license plate on a vehicle, a stop sign, a camper, and a car all were spray painted. The camper, belonging to Rich Litton, was parked on his property at 601 N. Maple at the time of the vandalism. The damaged car belongs to Myron and Mary Thiessen and was parked at their residence at 701 N. Olive.
"We are actively investigating all of these criminal damage reports," said Police Chief Jeff Pohlman. "We have made some progress and expect to have a solid suspect soon."
Pohlman also noted that the community experienced a quieter than usual New Year's Eve. "We did pick up three juveniles who started a fire in the city park because they were shooting illegal fireworks, but that was in the afternoon on the 31st," he said.
He reported that his office is also investigating a dog bite suffered by Christina Redger of 702 N. Sycamore.
