Peabody police conduct K-9 search

Officers from the Peabody Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff's K-9 Unit conducted a routine unannounced K-9 search and inspection of vehicles Jan. 21 at Peabody-Burns High School.

Officers participating in the investigation were Sergeant Jeff Soyez of the Marion County Sheriff's Department, and Officer James Philpott and Sergeant Bruce Burke of the Peabody Police Department.

No illegal narcotics or contraband were detected.

"It is always a good feeling to find nothing when we check the school," said Peabody Police Chief Jeff Pohlman. "These investigations are vitally important to help in the process of making our schools an environment for learning."

Pohlman also reported a battery complaint. On Jan. 15 Peabody police went to 306 N. Olive in Peabody to investigate the complaint. No arrests were made that day, but the case is being filed with the county attorney.

Pohlman reported a non-injury accident Monday involving two vehicles, one was parked. The accident occurred at Maple Street and the BNSF Railroad crossing and was weather-related.
