Peabody police arrests two juveniles for rape
Peabody Police Chief Jeff Pohlman has announced that in the last two weeks two juveniles have been arrested and charged with rape.
Charges have been filed in district court and the accused juveniles are awaiting court appearances.
Pohlman said there is an ongoing investigation.
Police continue to have problems with people climbing the fence at the pool and getting into the pool after hours.
Some minor damage has occurred, but Pohlman said it appears the offenders are most interested in a free swim.
Pohlman also noted that the July Fourth celebration was generally quiet and most people obeyed the rules about shooting off fire works.
"There were some who kept on after the cutoff time," he said. "But then, there are always those people who don't think the rules apply to them."
"For the most part everyone cooperated, there were few problems, and it was a great Fourth."
Pohlman said the city is interested in creating an area where people who are from out of town can shoot off fireworks during future celebrations.
He said this would be discussed at a city council meeting in the next month or so.
