Peabody Phantasmagoria will present painless history

Patricia Ketchum's painless history lesson will be presented this week by Peabody Historical Society as "Peabody Phantasmagoria."

Little known and amazing facts will hold the audience's attention as the Atchison, Topeka, and the Santa Fe roars into town! Joanna Brazil, Peabody city coordinator, acts as the narrator for the vignette.

People from Peabody's past such as Charlie Marsh and Ed Duvall miraculously come to life as veteran actors Pat Wood and Tom Alstrom tell their stories.

Tammie Yoder's fried chicken dinner will be served. The old fashioned lawn party takes place at 6:30 p.m. Friday — the longest day of the year — on the Morgan House lawn with the Phantasmagoria following at 8 p.m. Call 620-983-2193 for reservations.

Marilyn Harsh, along with husband Keith, Carol Grosse, Susan Mayo and her daughter, Chloe, are a few of the "behind the scenes" helpers. The title, Phantasmagoria, is a favorite word of longtime board member Edna Ewert.

All proceeds go to Historical Society projects. Restoration of the old barn building is at the top of the list.
