Peabody Market receives award
June is business appreciation month and the Kansas Department of Commerce started the month off Friday by honoring south central Kansas businesses.
Peabody Market received a merit award at the South Central Regional Awards ceremony at Wichita. The award was received by Rick and Vicky Turner and their granddaughter, Jayne Timm.
Others accompanying them to the ceremony were Peabody Mayor Ed Slocombe, Leslie LaFoy of Peabody Main Street Association and Kristen Hooper, director of Peabody Main Street Association.
Peabody Market was nominated by PMSA because of their commitment to the enhancement of their business and their commitment to the community.
Forty-eight businesses were honored during the ceremony. Businesses could be nominated in three categories — manufacturing/distribution, service, and retail, and were awarded business achievement awards or merit award. One business from each category was awarded the Business Excellence Award.
The South Central Regional Awards ceremony was one of seven ceremonies which will be held throughout the month across the state. This year, 270 companies were nominated for Businesses Appreciation Month.
