Peabody Historical Society to sponsor dinner

The Peabody Historical Society will host a "Sweetheart Dinner" at 7 p.m. Valentine's Day at the Morgan House.

A four-course meal will be served featuring country ham as grown and served in the 1880s. Appropriate accompaniments and side dishes are included.

Fine china, white linens, silver, and stemware are a part of the gracious setting. Costumed servers will add to the ambiance.

Music from the 19th century will be provided by the Free Staters, a musical group from Wichita. The Free Staters play vintage instruments or reproductions of those instruments and dress in 19th century costumes.

The meal is offered at $35 per couple and reservations are necessary. Seating is limited to 12 couples.

Reservations may be made by calling Marilyn Jones at 620-983-2815 or Janet Hamous at 620-983-2438.

Proceeds from the dinner will support the work of the Peabody Historical Society and the efforts to preserve an authentic history of the community.
