Cadette and Senior Troop 68 would like to share with the community what the Peabody Girl Scouts have been doing.
Girl Scout Week is March 9 to 15. Scout Sunday was March 9 and we attended church at the Peabody Baptist Church.
March 12 is Girl Scout birthday. The Junior, Brownie, and Daisy troops made posters to put up downtown to celebrate the week. Cadette and Senior troops are writing this article for the newspaper.
We have had a busy year.
In October, some of us participated in the mother-daughter camp-out at Camp Wood. The Cadette and Senior troop and the Junior troop took a trip to a corn maze and a pumpkin patch, then came back to the Baptist church in Peabody for a Halloween party to celebrate Juliette Low's birthday. Juliette Low is the founder of the Girl Scouts and her birthday is Oct. 31.
In November, all the troops were busy selling calendars, magazines, nuts, and candy. This is the first year for selling nuts and candy. The Cadette and Senior troop met with the Junior and Daisy troops and made "turkey treats" which they took to residents at Westview Manor.
In December, all participated in the Christmas parade. Scouts were dressed in Girl Scout Cookie costumes and rode on a float. Later that evening, we went Christmas caroling and then had hot chocolate and doughnuts. The Cadette and Senior troop met with the Junior and Brownie troops and made name card holders out of candy canes and took them to residents at Legacy Park.
During January, we were busy selling Girl Scout Cookies.
In February, we had a father-daughter box supper banquet. The scouts decorated boxes and made decorations for the box supper. The Cadettes made heart cookies for dessert.
