Peabody Elementary School holds health and fitness day
Peabody Elementary students learned about staying fit and healthy Thursday at Health and Fitness Day.
The last week in October is designated Red Ribbon Week throughout the country. During Red Ribbon Week students learn about staying healthy and avoiding illegal drug use. The day was spent traveling from station to station learning about healthy eating and how to keep their bodies physically fit.
Nancy Pihl of Marion County Extension Office and Carol Schmidt, dietitian at Legacy Park presented information on healthy eating.
Lorrie Reynolds, Juanita Richstatter, and Kenny Glenn, students from Tabor College, and a representative from Prairie View taught different physical fitness activities.
Tammy Whiteside, Peabody EMT, gave information on health care and students received a hands-on view of the ambulance.
Brad Richards educated students on the use of drug dogs in Marion County.
Lastly the Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) prepared healthy snacks for the students.
