Peabody Community Fund awards grants
Peabody Community Fund has selected grant recipients for this year. The foundation has had great support this year from the community. Due to that commitment the foundation has decided to award two grants this year.
The foundation balance has doubled in the last year to almost $50,000 in all funds.
The grants for 2007 are awarded from the money placed in unrestricted funds. This year the foundation was able to gather enough interest on the unrestricted fund to offer two $300 grants. The foundation's goal is to continue to grow and provide a place for charitable contributions that will enhance and help "grow" Peabody.
Peabody Community Fund encourages the community to take part in the foundation by attending the Groundhog Day pancake feed from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Peabody Senior Center. Proceeds from the pancake feed will be used for operation costs as well as additional grant opportunities.
The PCF is considering the option this year of using the pancake feed money to offer additional grants. There were several grant opportunities this year and PCF would like to have funded them all, but without additional funds had no choice but to limit the number to two.
This year the PCF will give grants to the Peabody Senior Center and the HUB. They both are working hard to provide services to local residents. The senior center is a vital part of our community and finances are always a concern. The HUB has provided much needed services for the youth of our community.
There were other applications that showed great merit and the foundation encourages the organizations that submitted them to continue to apply in the future.
