Peabody Community Foundation presents grant at annual dinner
A plan jointly sponsored by Peabody Historical Society and Peabody Township Library was given a boost Thursday night at the annual Peabody Community Foundation dinner.
A grant from PCF was given to the two groups to help pay for exterior lighting at the north entrance of the library.
Currently there is a single light bulb above the door. The entrance offers direct access to the Anne Potter room in the basement library. The room is a popular evening meeting place and the entrance could use some illumination.
The two light fixtures, made in the 1920s, are on cast iron posts and previously were located in front of the high school building at Eighth and Walnut. They were salvaged when the building was demolished.
Funds from the PCF grant will be spent to build a base for the lights and install electrical service.
The light fixtures were donated by Bob and Susan Marshall.
