Peabody churches remember heroes
The Association of Churches held a special 9/11 Remembrance Service Sunday at the Peabody United Methodist Church.
The service featured music by the Heavenly Bells handbell choir directed by Virginia Skinner and special music by a 34-member Community Churches Choir directed by Brian Butler.
Those taking part in the service were Pastor Rodger Charles of the Baptist Church, Pastor Roger O'Neal of the Peabody Bible Church, Pastor Jim Pohlman of the Christian Church and Pastor David Randall of the United Methodist Church.
In addition to remembering the events of Sept. 11, 2001, members of the Peabody fire department, police department, ambulance department, and military personnel and veterans were recognized. Special prayers were offered in support of each of these special people.
A list of individuals who have or are putting their lives in harm's way to protect the town and our country follows. During Pastor Charles' recognition of the honored guests he suggested that everyone take the first name on the list and offer a prayer for that person and continue in that fashion every day until all persons on this list had been prayed for.
