Peabody-Burns schools improve academically
Peabody-Burns USD 398 has much to celebrate. In a review of the district's Standard of Excellence testing results, the following classes met or exceeded the state's predetermined competence level.
The Standard of Excellence was reached in fifth grade reading, fourth grade math, seventh grade math, fourth grade science, and 10th grade science.
Students who scored at the exemplary level in reading were Kali Alstrom, Derek Benson, Alyssa Carter, William Crane, Travis DeNardi, Benson Gillet, Zachary Goodwin, Dustin Hatfield, Sarah Hofkamp, Brent Jones, Broderick Kyle, Katie Lewis, Bethanny Loucks, Caden Middleton, Nick Morgan, Justin Rempel, Jesse Riggs, Wesley Shaw, Krista Stafford, Amy Wedel, Kendall Wiebe, Lindsay Wiebe, Anna Zappone, and Joseph Zappone.
Exemplary scoring in math included Breta Alstrom, Seth Alstrom, Rayna Barnes, Joseph Brunner, Isaac Burnett, Austin Castleman, Shelby Elliott, Jamie Henry, Randa Hodges, Martin Hofkamp, Kayleb Koslowsky, Chris Lucks, Kaitlyn Preheim, Zachary Preheim, Chandra Rippe, Austin Savage, Jessica Sayers, Derrick Simmonds, Jacob Simmonds, Rushanna Smith, Jesse Stevens, Aaron Topham, Andrew Topham, Seth Topham, Lucas Tullis, Jason Unruh, Julie Wedel, Garrett Weems, Jacob Wolf, and Traylee Woodruff.

In addition, three tests were given as part of the American College Testing (ACT) program. USD 398 students' averages were above state and national averages in English, reading, and science.
State assessment testing for grades three through 11 begins March 1. Students need encouragement at home, from the neighborhood, and the community as they approach these tests. Questions may be referred to Katie Pankratz, district test coordinator, at 620-983-2196.
