Peabody-Burns FFA chapter wraps up fall activities

Peabody-Burns FFA Chapter officer team participated in the South-Central District leadership school at Moundridge High School.

The team participated in the ritual competition, which is performing the official opening and closing ceremonies by memorization. The team also presented a 10-minute parliamentary procedure demonstration. The final area of competition was taking a par-law and leadership information test.

Vice president Leann Spinden placed first overall in the leadership test on the district level and third overall in the state. She will be recognized in June during the state FFA convention.

Other team members participating were president Matt Entz, secretary Amber Langenegger, treasurer Ben Jantzen, reporter Jessica Slater, sentinel Ryan Gaines, and adviser Andrea Ferren.

Spinden also participated in the South-Central District speech and interview competition at Centre High School. She presented her speech on the wind turbines of Butler County. She placed third overall in the interview competition, which included the areas of resume, cover letter, interview, and follow-up letter.

Final competition for the chapter was the Beef Expo Judging at the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson. The team placed fourth overall. Participating were Spinden, Leila Garoutte, Jessica Slater, Andrea Ferren, and Stephanie Pratt.

Team members placed eight different classes of beef cattle and were able to view several different cattle breeds.
