PBHS youth compete at national competition
Four Peabody-Burns students competed Aug. 3-7 at the national Wildlife Habitat Evaluation Program in Little Rock, Ark.
The team of Ben Jantzen, Ashley Elliott, Derek Benson, and Jason Unruh placed first in state competition in April and qualified for the national program.
Teams participated in five contests, including individual competitions of identifying common wildlife foods, interpreting wildlife habitat from aerial photos, and on-site habitat management recommendations. Team competition included developing a rural wildlife management plan and urban landscapes and backyard habitat plans.
Elliott tied for 11th in the foods contest. The team tied for sixth with their urban landscapes and backyard habitat plan. Jantzen was the high scoring team member.
