PBHS Warriors win battle at Berean

Peabody-Burns High School boys' basketball team opened the season Friday with a league match-up at Berean Academy.
PBHS defeated Berean 32-27 behind a balanced scoring attack.
The battle of the two Warrior teams was even throughout the first quarter. Berean took the early lead, 4-1. PBHS came back and the lead changed three times, before PBHS led 14-13 at the buzzer.
Jason Carroll led with four points in the quarter. Derrick Simmonds and Micah Hilliard had three points each, while Derek Benson and Duane Unruh had one basket each.
Warrior pressure defense swarmed Berean in the second, creating turnovers with full court pressure. PBHS held Berean to just six points. The offense put up 19, and lead by 14 at the break.
Unruh led the team with six points and Simmonds had five. Benson and Nathan Bishop had four points each and Carroll had two.
The second half was much slower with Berean controlling much of the game's tempo. The PBHS offense managed only four points in the half. Carroll and Unruh each had two points.
Berean added 13 in the half and got as close as three at the four-minute mark in the game.
