PBHS Warriors chalk up another victory

Peabody-Burns Warriors boys' basketball team put up another league win Tuesday with a victory over the Goessel Bluebirds, 54-45.
The Bluebirds took an early seven-point lead in the first three minutes of the contest. Michael Unruh put up the first Warrior score with a free-throw. The Warriors battled from behind to take the lead at the end of the first quarter, 10-9. Caleb Good led the comeback with four. Isaac Good, Mario Nava, and Unruh each contributed two.
The lead changed several times in the second quarter. The Warriors were able to build a slim lead at the half, 29-25. C. Good paced the PBHS squad with eight points. Jason Carroll put in five with Nava adding four. Unruh added two to round out the scoring. Defensively, the Warriors played hard and stayed fresh with continuous rotation from the bench.
The contest remained close throughout the third. The Bluebirds made a few half-time adjustments, slightly slowing the Warrior offense. Both teams scored 13 in the period but the Warriors held onto the lead, 42-38, at the end of three. C. Good led the scoring during the quarter with seven.
The Warrior defense took control of the game in the fourth holding the Bluebirds to seven. The Warriors were able to pull away from the Goessel squad. Tyler Litton put up two big baskets for the PBHS squad. Adam Carroll also got on the board in the period with four points. I. Good and C. Good put in two each to finalize the win for a hard-fought Warrior victory, 54-45.
The next two match-ups for the Warriors are league contests. The first was Tuesday with Berean Academy. The Warriors will meet Inman Friday.
