PBHS student council off to busy start
Peabody-Burns High School student council members have been involved in several service projects since the beginning of the school year.
The group incorporated a food drive into the 2003 homecoming activities with a competition between classes. The senior class was the winner with the largest contribution. Food was donated to the Marion County Emergency Food Bank.
The students prepared and served teachers a meal of homemade chili and cinnamon rolls a few weeks ago during parent-teacher conferences.
Up next is the purchase of an additional microwave for the lunch room. Currently only one is available to students who need to heat a portion of the lunch they bring from home. A second microwave will shorten the amount of time students spend waiting in line to use the appliance.
Another project on tap for this semester is adopting a family at Christmas.
Students hope to focus on more service projects during the school year. Their sponsor is Annette Elliott.
