PBHS student council has numerous projects underway

Peabody-Burns High School student council has adopted a number of service projects for the 2004-05 school year.

Some of the projects help students and teachers, others impact the community and area.

Student council members provide a meal for teachers during parent-teacher conferences. They have made welcome bags for new students who arrive at PBHS during the school year.

Student council sponsors a bulletin board on which they post announcements, student or school highlights from newspapers, and other information of interest to PBHS students.

To kick off the holiday season, student council members had a lock-in to decorate the building for the holidays. The council will sponsor the Winter Ball, a semi-formal/formal dance to be held from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday evening in Brown Building gymnasium.

Community service projects include a drive to collect food and personal items for Newton Battered Women's shelter and painting the student chairs at Sunshine Pre-school.

Student council is made up of representatives from high school classes and organizations. The student group is sponsored by Annette Elliott.
