PBHS power-lifters compete at state
Four Peabody-Burns High School power-lifters traveled March 20 to Meade to participate in the state power-lifting meet.
The women's team placed fourth in the overall standings. Members are Kara Gridley, Hollee Reynolds, and Jennifer Schmeling.
Gridley also was named the third best lifter in the women's division.
Job Hilliard, the only male lifter from Peabody-Burns, placed 14th in team standings.
Hilliard also broke the Kansas state clean record with a lift of 320 pounds.
Steven Gridley of Newton accompanied the team to Meade.
Following are individual results:
Job Hilliard, 220 lb. weight class — Clean, 320 pounds, first place for a new state record.
Kara Gridley, 105 lb. weight class — Clean, first; bench, first; squad, first. Third place overall.
Hollee Reynolds, 123 lb. weight class — Clean, third; bench, third; squat, 1st.
Jennifer Schmeling 148 lb. weight class — Clean, fifth; bench, third; squad, sixth.
