PBHS musicians compete at festival

Tabor College in Hillsboro was the site Saturday for the KSHSAA regional solo and small ensemble festival.

Peabody-Burns students performed in front of judges for ratings in both instrumental and vocal categories.

Students who received a one rating qualified to compete April 24 at the State Festival at Concordia.

The following students received a I rating at the competition in Hillsboro on Saturday:

Kali Alstrom, clarinet solo; Ashley Elliott, baritone saxophone solo; Chris Milstead, flute solo; Katy Schmidt, clarinet solo; Leann Spinden, flute solo; and Blythe Weir, tenor saxophone solo.

Students earning a II are:

Laura Hoffmann, vocal solo; Christina Newfield, vocal solo; Andrew Topham, trumpet solo; Kate Topham, flute solo; Marie Unruh, French horn solo; Lindsay Wiebe, flute solo; Flute Quartet, (Dalli Jo Hammond, Kate Topham, Lindsay Wiebe, Jana Windsor); Voices ensemble, (Megan Cox, Dalli Jo Hammond, Sara Hoffmann, Adam Jones, Ashley Miller, Christina Newfield, Amber Spechtenhauser, Andrew Topham, Jason Unruh, Michael Unruh, Marie Unruh, Jarred Weems, Oliver Whitney).

The musicians are directed by Steven Glover.
