PBHS musicians audition for honor groups
Four Peabody-Burns High School student musicians traveled Saturday to Andover Central High School to audition for the Kansas Music Educators Association South Central District Honor Band and Honor Choir.
Students from all over the South Central Kansas area auditioned for the honor groups.
Three PBHS instrumentalists were selected to be a part of this year's honor band. They were sophomore Kali Alstrom, clarinet, sophomore Lindsay Wiebe, flute, and senior Lydia Wolf, clarinet.
They will participate in the honor band concert Dec. 6 at Wichita State University.
Senior Sara Hoffmann, alto, auditioned Saturday for the honor choir. Results of the choir auditions were not known at press time.
On Nov. 3, seven Peabody-Burns High School student musicians traveled to Hutch Trinity for the Heart of America League Instrumental Honors Concert.
The students were chosen from nominations and recommendations sent in by director, Steven Glover.
Representing PBHS at the concert were Kali Alstrom, clarinet; Ashley Elliott, baritone saxophone; Sara Hoffmann, trumpet; Sandra McLeod and Marie Unruh, French horn; Blythe Weir, tenor saxophone; and Shannon Welsh, baritone.
