PBHS golf team third at Marion, Riley Co.

The Peabody-Burns High School golf team participated in the Marion Invitational April 29, and the Riley County Invitational.

In both tournaments the six-man teams took third place.

At Marion the six-man team from PBHS included Thomas McGee, Brian Wingert, Joe Zappone, Jason McClendon, Jason Wingert, and Curtis Frederick.

They had a team total of 356.

Marion won the tournament with 346 and Goessel was second with 356.

McGee had the high finish at Marion for the PBHS squad, earning a second-place medal with a round of 79.

Fifty-six golfers competed at Marion.

At Riley County the six-man team was made up of the following golfers with individual scores: Jason Wingert (74), Brian Wingert (75), Zappone (81), Travis Pohlman (86), McGee (86), and McClendon (87).

Medalists were Jason Wingert at fifth, and Brian Wingert seventh.

The junior varsity team also competed at Riley County and won its division.

The team was made up of Curtis Frederick, Trevor Foth, Calib Hilliard, Jacob Gillet, Martin Hofkamp, and Lukas Bambach.

Foth earned a first-place medal. Hilliard was third and Gillet medaled at fourth.

The team will travel next to Hesston for the Heart of America league tournament.
