PBHS forensics squad competes for honors

The Peabody-Burns forensics squad was at Centre High School and Goessel High School for tournament competition during the past week.

On April 3, seven students earned medals at the Centre High School Invitational Tournament.

Anna Zappone placed second in humorous solo acting, Jesse Riggs placed fourth in humorous solo acting, Ruth McLeod and Sherilyn Hill took fifth in duet acting, Holton Middleton and Micah Hilliard placed fifth in improvised duet acting, and Charity Gwinup placed sixth in prose interpretation.

Gwen Gaines of Peabody was a judge at the event.

Other schools in the competition included Berean Academy, Council Grove, Herington, Hope, Little River, St. Xavier, Wakefield, and White City.

Goessel was host April 5 to the Heart of America League tournament.

Anna Zappone took a third place medal in humorous solo acting and five other PBHS students placed in the competition. Jesse Riggs placed ninth in humorous solo acting, Ruth McLeod and Sherilyn Hill placed ninth in duet acting, and Holton Middleton and Micah Hilliard tied at ninth for improvised duet acting.

Other students who participated at the league meet were Chloe Boley, Ashley Elliott, Holly Faunce, Kara Gridley, Charity Gwinup, Laura Hoffmann Sandra McLeod, Katy Schmidt, Frankie Stevenson, Virgillia Stevenson, Oliver Whitney, and Jacob Wolf.

Peabody judges were Gwen Gaines, Doe Ann Hague, and Linda Willey.

Other schools in the competition were Berean Academy, Goessel, Hutch Trinity, Inman, Little River, Moundridge, Pretty Prairie, Remington, and Sedgwick.
