PBHS forensics squad competes
Peabody-Burns High School forensics squad members recently participated in tournaments.
On Thursday, the squad participated in the Hutchinson Trinity Invitational Forensics Tournament.
Ruth McLeod placed first in prose interpretation which qualified her for state championship competition.
Chelsea Mackey placed eighth in original oration speaking.
Virgillia Stevenson also competed in prose interpretation.
Other schools that competed were Berean Academy, Moundridge, Buhler, Great Bend, Bennington, Garden Plain, Goessel, Haven, Hesston, Inman, Kingman, Lyons, McPherson, Nickerson, and Salina Central.
On Saturday the squad participated in the Council Grove Invitational Tournament.
Chelsea Mackey received a third-place medal in original oration. Jesse Riggs received a fourth-place medal in humorous solo acting. Both qualified to compete in state forensics competition.
Also placing were McLeod, prose interpretation, eighth place; Sherilyn Hill and McLeod, duet acting, 11th; and Chloe Boley and Carrie Crane, improvised duet acting, 13th.
Other participants and their categories were Stevenson, prose interpretation; Oliver Whitney and Duane Unruh, improvised duet acting; and Boley and Crane, duet acting.
Other schools competing were Berean Academy, Moundridge, Chase County, Osage City, Marion, Olpe, Northern Heights, Goessel, Hillsboro, Silver Lake, Rossville, Rock Creek, Mission Valley, Wabaunsee, St. Xavier, Hartford, Onaga, Marais Des Cygnes, Herington, and Centre.
