PBHS football team prepares for start of regular season
Peabody-Burns High School Warriors took to the practice field Monday for a summer work-out.
Twenty-four men braved the heat to do drills and get a jump on learning the PBHS football system. The team will be in camp from 6:30-8:30 p.m. this week.
"This week we are going over fundamentals and some of our offensive and defensive schemes," head coach David Pickens said. "It is not as challenging as an after-school football practice but the kids get a good idea of what we, the coaching staff, expect from them."
The camp is ran by Warrior coaching staff, led by Pickens, and assisted by Bob Kyle and Clint Winchester.
"We had hoped to have a few more players out here but we should pick up a few as the week progresses," Pickens said. "We are really excited to see the kids in camp. It gives us a chance to evaluate them in a more relaxed setting.
"They grow and change during the summer and this is our first look at them before school starts. From the looks of some of the players, we will have a big improvement on our line this season."
The Warriors will open Sept. 1 at home against Inman.
