Staff writer

PBHS Warriors lost a close one in overtime Friday at Goessel. The Warriors, playing Goessel for the second time in two weeks, lost 74-67.

The PBHS squad has a break during Christmas vacation and will resume play Jan. 7 at Pretty Prairie.

In Friday's game, the Warriors were down by six early to the Bluebirds, but climbed back into the contest to tie the score at 11 at the end of the first quarter.

Both teams played well on offense and the defensive pressure was intense. The Warriors were down by one at half time, 24-25.

Even play continued throughout the third quarter. The Warriors matched up with the Bluebirds, 45-45, at the close of the third quarter.

The Bluebirds pulled away from the Warriors in the fourth, leading by nine with just over three minutes left in the contest. Philip Unruh shot a trey to bring the Warriors within three, 58-61.

With 27 seconds on the clock, the Warriors were down by three, 61-64. Goessel fouled Caleb Good on a long three-point shot to put Good on the free throw line. All three shots fell and the Warriors took the game into overtime.

The PBHS squad managed to only score three points in the fifth period with a three-point basket from Nick Conquest. The Bluebirds took the win, 74-67.
